Celebrating the Renovation of Dormition Church

SSV’s long-term renovation at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church is nearing completion.

On Friday, May 26th, 2023, the parish – along with leadership from Acella Construction, SSV personnel, and other clergy from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston – celebrated installation of the dome and cross atop the church’s new tower.

Immediately following its installation, the Reverend Father Anthony Tandilyan blessed the cross from a crane-suspended basket operated by Acella.

The tower, situated at the intersection of the church and its attached social hall, was designed in the Byzantine style and houses an elevator accessing all levels of the complex.

Lead architect Andrew J. Cannata, AIA, and principal-in-charge Gerald J. Sullivan, AIA, LEED AP, were present, along with several of the architectural designers who assisted in the design.

The project is near completion and is slated to be closed out before the parish’s annual Greek Festival in September!
